What a mill audit / inspection🔍🕵️ covers, include;
- Operational parameters: Review mill speed, load, power draw, and feed rate against design specs to spot inefficiencies.
- Liner : Visual check for broken, loose, or worn liners, lifters, and discharge grates.
- Process performance: Look at grind size, throughput, and circulating load to see if the mill is under/over-performing.
- Safety and housekeeping: Check for hazards, leaks, and compliance with safe operating practices.
- Wear monitoring; scanning of mill liners. Scanning: This uses 3D laser scanning to measure the actual wear profile of the liners inside the mill. The scanner maps the liner surface to generate a wear profile and remaining thickness.
- Wear rate analysis: Compare current scan with previous scans to calculate wear rate operating hours.
- Remaining life prediction: Estimate when liners will reach minimum thickness and need replacement.
- Liner performance check: Assess if lifters are maintaining the correct charge profile and if there’s abnormal wear in specific zones like feed end, discharge end, or shell.
